Tyler Eklund Fund
April 13, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Fourteen year old Tyler Eklund broke his C-3 vertebrae while snowboarding at the USA Amateur Snowboarding Association’s (USASA) Nationals at Northstar on April 1. Tyler was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Reno, NV where he is currently paralyzed from the neck down.
Tyler was a strong and consistent competitor in High Cascade’s long-running USASA snowboard series, “Enter the Dragon,” which hosts over one hundred competitors from throughout Oregon. In March, just weeks prior to his serious injury at Northstar, Tyler’s name was drawn for a free summer camp session at High Cascade Snowboard Camp from a pool of competitors who participated in all six Enter the Dragon USASA snowboard contests.
Upon learning of Tyler’s serious injury and his family’s foreseeable and tremendous medical expenses we announced at USASA Nationals last week that we would put the camp session that Tyler won as well as one other session up for silent auction. We will be silently auctioning off two sessions at High Cascade Snowboard Camp, with all proceeds going to the Tyler Eklund fund at U.S. Bank.
How to Bid?
Bids will start at $1500 for each camp session respectively, and will be accepted today through 4 PM (PST) Friday April, 27 via email or phone at helptyler@highcascade.com or 1.800.334.4272.
Please include your name, bid amount, phone number, and email address.
The winning bidders will be announced by High Cascade on Friday April, 27.

hi, i just discovered snowboard revolution thanks to the interview of my friend Jean-jacques Roux and that how i get to know about “injured riders foundation”.
What can i say?
i already told my story a thousand times so i sum it up
2 broken vertebras and a piece of titanium, consequently to an overshoot during the Oneill pro slopestyle 2005 in Avoriaz France
i m getting better and i’ m supposed to ride again “seriously” for next summer
that’s the reason why i decided to try out the “injured riders foundation”!
actually i have been off for almost 2 seasons but i really want to come back
i went back to the university(currently in a master degree), and i have internship to do for next winter, from january to august, and i decided i’d do that in British Columbia, Canada so that i could restart my snowboard stuff and finish my studies in the same time.
Only one compagny kept my under contract while injured (Julbo sunglasses) and i m looking for further support to keep doing what i do best:snowboard.
I dont know if the foundation aims at that, but i try…..that is something just unbeleivable in my country , that i couldn t help but checking it out, so here it is , i registered in the snowboard revolution users and i leave some links so that you can check my stuffs out and that hopefully i find out some new and serious partnerships to keep shredding!!!!!
Well big up to the foundation and to snowboard revolution
and see you later. Peace

The pressure was building and everyone was waiting for me to drop. The wind was blowing just slightly uphill and my friends had left the crowd of over 100 anxious snowboard hounds to deliver me a helmet. Thanks for that. The pressure built more and more as I contemplated dropping in or not. I was about 4 foot 11 and borrowed a 156 Burton Snowboard with baseless bindings because “I could go bigger” on it. I strapped the helmet, strapped in, looked down at the crowd and dropped in.
30 and still kickin.

My first injury came when I was 21, slamed hard on ice, bruised my spleen and ruptured a kidney. I spent two days in the hospital and luckilly didn’t require surgury.
My next injury at 23 was a dislocating-relocating shoulder that progressed and spread to the other shoulder over a period of two years. After seeing a specialist, I was quickly admitted to a surgen (The best in Calgary, so they say). He did the first one good and two months later decided to take the day off and let his wife do the other. My hand was completly numb when I came to and continued to be numb for about three months. Most of the feeling came back but not all of it. I still have problems with the shoulder occasionally. The last time I saw that surgeon he didn’t know where the O.R. log was for my operation, this is not acceptable, always ask to see it. Even better, ask who will be doing the cutting in advance, chances are it’s an intern with limited experience.
My next injury was an ACL tear at 25. More surgury. I hate doctors….
I have now been injury free for 4 years thanks to dedication to physiotherapy, stretching and working out at the gym regularly.
Still riding, and harder than ever.
4 Broken Ribs and Ruptured Spleen: Wanchow
March 5, 2007 | 2 Comments
The results come out that I have 4 broken ribs and a ruptured spleen. I had
to be sent to ICU for the night to make sure my spleen didn’t start bleeding again. As the doctor let me know what was wrong. I felt so lucky that he wasn’t going to have to cut into me and remove my spleen. Well it ended up that I spent the following day in ICU so they could run check ups.

Injured Riders Foundation
We support the snowboard community with our Injured Rider Foundation. The IRF program gives injured riders a second hand with their rehabilitation cost. As riders we have learned that every step of progression takes a lot of trial and error. Occasionally the errors end up in serious injury and leave riders with limited or no financial means to recover. The foundation was created to support those injured riders by assisting with their health care costs, prescriptions, rehabilitation costs, and anything else necessary to help get them back on their boards.
How you can Help:
You can help support the Injured Riders by purchasing advertising space, buying from our apparel line “The Revolution Project” and by wearing a “cloud” sticker or patch when you’re out on the hill.
100% of the net profits from Snowboard Revolution “The Revolution Project” will go to the Injured Riders Foundation.
Who is Eligible?
Any injured riders are eligible to apply for aid from the Injured Rider Foundation.
How to Register?
Riders can register as a user and write their misfortunate tale and explain how it has changed or challenged their lives. They can also include any pictures and video with the story.
